The Chicago Street Race - How Katherine Legge Qualified on Time and Finished 19th in her 3rd Cup Start:

The Chicago Street Race had 41 entries for only 40 available spots, meaning one "open" (non-chartered) car would fail to qualify.

OPEN TEAMS vs CHARTERED TEAMS - Open teams do not have a guaranteed spot in the race, if there are more entries than spots, the open teams must qualify on time. Legge was driving the No. 78 Live Fast Motorsports Chevrolet, an open entry.

During qualifying, Corey Heim, driving the No. 67 for 23XI Racing (another open team), hit the wall and damaged his car's toe-link, causing him to run a slower lap time of 1:32.506. Despite a challenging qualifying session herself, where she hit a tire barrier and touched a wall, Legge managed to turn a lap of 1:32.368, just over a tenth of a second faster than Heim.
QUALIFYING TIME - The faster lap time meant that Katherine Legge successfully qualified her No. 78 Live Fast Motorsports entry, knocking Corey Heim and the 23XI Racing No. 67 car out of the race.
She started the Chicago Grant Park 165 from the 35th position (of 40 drivers) due to unapproved adjustments and finished 19th.
2025 CUP SERIES - Made 3 starts, career best finish of 19th in the Chicago Street Race. She qualified as an open entry in Chicago by outpacing Corey Heim. Debut at Phoenix, finishing 30th. Mexico City, finishing 32nd.
