Carson Hocevar, born on January 28, 2003, and currently 22 years old in 2025, hails from Portage, Michigan. He became a full-time competitor in 2021 with Niece Motorsports.
Over his Truck Series career, Hocevar secured five victories, earning his first win at Texas in 2023. Known for his aggressive driving style and ability to make dramatic saves, he was a consistent front-runner, earning a third-place finish in the 2023 Truck Series championship standings.
Hocevar transitioned to the NASCAR Cup Series, making select starts in 2023 before joining Spire Motorsports for a full-time ride in the #77 Chevrolet.
This path is unique as most drivers typically progress through the Xfinity Series before reaching the Cup level. Notable drivers who also made a quick jump to the Cup Series with limited or no full-time Xfinity experience include Kurt Busch, who moved to Cup after a single full Truck Series season in 2000, and Carl Edwards, who transitioned to Cup mid-season in 2004 after excelling in the Truck Series. More recently, Todd Gilliland, a current Cup Series driver for Front Row Motorsports in the No. 34 Ford, also moved directly from the Truck Series to Cup in 2022.
In Hocevar's rookie Cup Series season in 2024, he earned six top-10 finishes, demonstrating his immediate adaptability. This rapid learning curve in the Cup Series has included competitive on-track encounters, notably a couple of run-ins with veteran Cup Series driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
In 2025 he has secured two top-5 finishes, including a runner-up at Atlanta and another at Nashville. He also has three top-10 finishes overall, including a sixth-place at Talladega. He captured his first NASCAR Cup Series pole position at Texas, becoming the youngest polesitter ever at that track, and followed this with his first Cup Series victory in the non-points NASCAR All-Star Open at North Wilkesboro in May 2025.
